Update – 3rd November 2002

Before they were sent it was felt necessary to go through the letters one by one to remove all home addresses. This is both as a precaution to protect individuals from unwanted mail, and to ensure that all communication is centralised so that we all of us benefit from the information gleaned. The Kenyan people do not seem to understand our interest in the everyday aspects of their lives, so we know very little as yet. It seems that we will come to understand bit by bit almost accidentally and in passing.
As it happens Gerald will be in Kenya himself next weekend and hopes to visit the school again in person, if there is time. Watch this space to find out if he did and what he found.
We have decided to send each child a Christmas card from the whole church so that there is no pressure to get another parcel together and sent before the big day. We can then relax and await any returns from the pupils whether they come this year or next or not at all. There is no commitment demanded from the school to respond.
The latest pupil list that was emailed through showed a static situation. There are 3 new pupils and just one has moved from the area. Each child was sent something but there is capacity for more people to join the one-to-one link. Please see Ruth if you are interested.
The school year ends in December so there will be more exams and the pupils will either move up or down a class depending on how well they have done.
