Rev. Louise visits the Ndumbuini Hill School in February 2005

During their visit there was a tour of the school inevitably.

The building looks very smart now. It is strange to think that the whole first floor is only in use because of the efforts of All Saints. Church.
Look how it was in 2001.

Looking again at the photo of the school as it is now. The door at the top of the stairs is to the office. It is on the wall to the right that our plaque has been affixed. You can see the small curtain covering it here.
The tap attached to the new water borehole is on the left of the picture.

Ndumbuini Hill School - Dedication Of the School Building
On 15th February 2005
Rev. Louise Brown – Vicar of All Saints Church, Dedworth, Windsor, England
Rev Kenneth Munanga – Executive Officer, Diocese of Mt. Kenya South (Bishop’s Representative)
Rev Stephen Njenga – Vicar, St, Mary’s Church, Kabete, Diocese Of Nairobi
It gives me much joy to witness this day. It is a big day in the history of this school. A day we can witness the men’s wishes and dreams turning into a reality.
The achievements made through the completion of the school building and the sinking and equipping of the borehole, a project undertaken by All Saints Church, Dedworth, about two years ago is truly a blessing to this school and the community around.
I briefly report as under: -
ACADEMIC PROGRESS OF THE SCHOOL
The school has classes from Nursery, Pre-Unit and Standards 1 – 8. The pupils in Standard 8 are candidates for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (K.C.P. E.) this year. The total number of pupils in the school is 65. There are 7 teachers and one cook/caretaker. The pupils are pursuing the 8-4-4-system of education.
SCHOOL BUILDING AND PLAYGROUND
The now completed school building has nine classes, a staff room, and the Director’s residence. The new completed classes are spacious and are able to hold up to 30 pupils.
The pupils and teachers are very happy to have such wonderful learning space and environment.
COMPUTER LESSONS
The school is highly appreciative of the gift of four computers sent to us by members of All Saints Church, Dedworth. The pupils have familiarised themselves with the operations of the computers but the teaching of the syllabus will start after half term.
BOREHOLE
It is a great joy that I report that the school now owns a borehole which, once operational, will make itself self-sufficient in water. The water will be utilised for drinking, cooking and also cleaning the classrooms.
The school also plans to have a kiosk for selling water to the members of the community and later to give metered water to a few subscribers. This will bring some income to the school.
IRRIGATIONAL FARMING
Now that the school has been blessed with a lot of water, the Board is in the process of leasing a one acre piece of land which is next to the school, in order to start irrigational farming. The school aims at being self-sufficient in the production of crops such as maize, beans, vegetables etc. which are used in feeding the pupils.
FUTURE NEEDS
For the school to be more competitive among other private schools in the area, there is a need for a mini-bus or bus to ferry pupils from distant areas who wish to join the school. The school transport would also assist our older pupils who walk about 10 kilometres to and from school each day.
The school also sees a future need of giving boarding accommodation to some pupils whose home environment is not suitable for learning. This, however, needs very careful forethought and planning.
THANKS
The school wishes to thank Rev. Louise Brown who is here with us, and members of her church (All Saints Church, Dedworth) for the invaluable assistance they have given to this school from the year 2002 to date,.
May God bless you abundantly.
I also wish to thank each and everyone who has taken time to attend this dedication service and wish you God’s blessing.
Thank you
