Kenya Project

 

Achieved so far (September 2003):-

o       Staff are paid – Grace Njenga, Julie and James, plus  Esnas Wandet

o       Pupils have at least one hot meal a day

o       School telephone and other overheads paid

o       Fencing for the compound

o       Grassed playground (now bare again as there is no rain)

o       Partitioning and painting of the classrooms

o       Floor cemented

o       Broken windows replaced

o       Digging a 30 foot pit latrine and construction of toilets and one urinal

o       Purchase of several textbooks for the school

o       Repairs to desks and tables

o       Maintenance of the school garden by employing labour

 

Still needed :-

o      Completion of remaining classrooms.  This means putting a roof on the first floor.

o      Drilling a water borehole for a fresh water supply

 

Equipment for the playground  (Prices given last October)

Climbing Frame               20 000 KES

See saw                           15 000 KES

Football                           3 500 KES

Netball                            2 000 KES

There are about 80 Kenyan Shillings to a US Dollar.
