All Saints'

           Kenya Project

The Kilimanjaro Challenge

This venture has now taken place. The walkers returned to Windsor in time for the harvest festival on 19th October. The climb was complete on Sunday 12th October. Everyone travelled back to Nairobi on the 13th and then visited the Ndumbuini Hill School together on 14th. Four flew home that night and the rest took two days in Zanzibar relaxing by the Indian Ocean to recover and unwind.

"It was amazing! We all found it hard and most of us would never dream of wanting to do it again. It really took it out of us physically. The huge compensation is the personal and group pride in our success, the wonderful and tangible support from everyone back home and the joy of visiting the children and teachers at the school for whom the whole venture was set up.  They gave us a wonderful reception, and because of the efforts of the whole church community at All Saints, they can anticipate a better future.  We have raised more than enough money to put the roof on the school.  At the moment more than half the children in the school are classified as orphans and destitute children who cannot even afford to pay the £2 a month the other pupils pay. They and others like them will always be welcomed into the school and given a hot meal every day." Ruth Norris
